06th March, 2007

The 2007 Club Marine Sailboat Show is coming to beautiful Waterfront City at Melbourne Docklands from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 March 2007.

The show will be bigger and brighter than ever in its new location. (Previously held at Sandringham Yacht Club). The Club Marine Sail Boat Show will be held in conjunction with Melbourne Osaka Week and it truly does offer something for everyone at the value price of $5.00 per adult and $2.00 per child over the age of 7; it is not to be missed.

Set to feature a large range of the latest in boat designs on the well laid out marina and sailing accessories ashore, the new venue is spacious, allowing visitors to peruse the various stands at leisure and in comfort.

If the going gets tough, the many restaurants, food stalls and bars the precinct has to offer will be just the ticket to feed hungry families and relax in very pleasant surroundings.

Expected to attract in excess of 20,000 visitors this year, the Club Marine Sailboat Show is being held in conjunction with Melbourne Osaka Boat Week and many festivities are planned, with competing yachts moored at the marina prior to leaving on their two handed non stop race to Osaka on March 25.

Attendees at the Show will be able to see the entered yachts and speak first hand with some of the crews competing in the double-handed 5,500 nautical mile race – Australia’s longest ocean race.  Should you be lucky enough to be at the Show on Sunday 25th, you will be able to farewell the yachts as they leave for their start line off Station Pier.

Find out how it feels to be heading off on such a long voyage and what preparations are necessary, or ask crews how they feel they will cope with only two people on each yacht sailing in a non-stop race all the way to Japan.

By being there, you also have the chance to win a five-night Bareboat (self sail) Charter Holiday with Sunsail in the Whitsunday's.

Headline acts will also be part of the Melbourne Osaka Boat Week.  Killing Heidi and Joe Camilleri and the Black Sorrows will feature, along with a Osaka festival, school excursions, boat rallies, safety demonstrations, face painting and more for the kids, and a fireworks display too!

The show offers the best opportunity for you and any family members to try sailing as qualified instructors from Yachting Victoria will be on hand to take children and adults sailing in dinghies in a safe environment, as will the Sandringham Yacht Club Boating Academy and both will answer any questions you may have.

What else is on show at the Show?  Lots!  Come and check out the latest designs and technical brilliance from some of the biggest company names in the industry such as:  Anchors and windlasses; autopilots; batteries, chargers and generators; books, charts and magazines; brokerage; chandlery; charter/sailing holidays; shoes and wet weather gear; communication; engines; EPIRB; inflatables; insurance; jetties and pontoons; life jackets, buoys; life rafts; navigation lights; masts and spars; paint, coating, anti-fouls; propellers; radar; repairs and maintenance; ropes and rigging; sails and sail cloth; sailing instruments; steering gear; winches and more.

And a general information booth will be located at the Sailboat Show Alley Pavilion entrance, while ATM facilities are located next to the food court at Waterfront City.  Restroom facilities are located within the Show area – so don’t miss out!
